According to the team, Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Gardner Minshew has a pretty serious thumb injury that he has been playing through.

It is being reported that Minshew has multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his right thumb, which is obviously his throwing hand. Reports claim that Minshew has been dealing with this injury since the Jaguars’ October 11 game against the Houston Texans.

The Jaguars are currently on a bye week, which should give Minshew time to heal up. However, the injury looks to be fairly serious and might require the quarterback to sit out a few weeks.

Minshew is playing for his spot, not just on this year’s roster, but on next year’s roster as well. Many believe that the Jaguars will be interested in drafting a new quarterback with their first pick of the 2021 draft.

Jacksonville doesn’t have much in terms of quarterback depth either. They have journeyman Mike Glennon, who has never looked like a starting quarterback since joining the league. They also have third-stringer Jake Luton, who scouts believe is very gifted but is still a very raw prospect that needs a lot of work.
