The Tennessee Titans won’t be able to count on veteran defensive end Jadeveon Clowney for the rest of the 2020 NFL season. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Clowney underwent knee surgery last week and faces several months in rehab.

Clowney initially landed on the injured reserve in late November, but it was believed that the 27-year-old star could get back in time to help Tennessee in the playoffs. However, the injury turned out to be a lot more severe than it was originally thought.

Rapoport added that Clowney should make a full recovery ahead of the 2021 NFL season, considering that the procedure went well and was labeled “straight-forward.”

Losing a player of Jadeveon Clowney’s caliber would normally be a big blow for a team, but there is a sense that the Titans will have other options to turn to.

Clowney inked a one-year, $13 million contract with Tennessee during the offseason, hoping to have a big year before hitting the free agency again and commanding a long term deal. Unfortunately for both parties, things didn’t turn out that way.

As it turns out, Clowney will most likely end his stint with the Titans, having played only eight games and failing to provide an expected impact. He failed to have a single sack in 2020 while providing 19 tackles and only six QB hits.
