The chances of the Jacksonville Jaguars taking an offensive tackle with their first overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft have just become a lot slimmer. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Jags agreed to an extension with their starting left tackle Cam Robinson and secured stability on the position for the foreseeable future.

Reportedly, Robinson landed a three-year deal that will pay him $54 million. The 26-year-old player was previously set to play on a franchise tag that would pay him $16.7 million in 2022.

The Jags would have probably considered taking a left tackle in the upcoming draft if they hadn’t managed to hammer out an agreement with Robinson. The 2022 class has several standout OTs including Alabama’s Evan Neal and NC State’s Ikem Ekwonu. However, now Jacksonville will likely focus on other positions of need and look to upgrade on the defensive side of the ball.

The Jaguars drafted Cam Robinson in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was named the team’s starting LT in his rookie season and proved to be a reliable option for Jacksonville, not counting his sophomore year which ended prematurely due to an ACL injury.

In 2021, Robinson had a career year and allowed just one sack in 856 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. He also earned his best pass-blocking grade since becoming a pro.
