YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul has won his fourth professional boxing match, having defeated Tyron Woodley via split decision (77-75, 75-77, 78-74) on Sunday night as the main event at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. This victory sees Paul extend his fighting record to 4-0.

“I learned a lot tonight,” Paul admitted after the fight. “First time going back past four minutes. First time in an eight-round fight. To be honest, I won convincingly. We’re gonna go back to the drawing board. I think I proved a lot tonight and proved a lot of people wrong.”

Arguably Paul’s sternest test to date, Woodley himself has earned a reputation for being a big puncher, having previously held the UFC welterweight championship title.

Paul outpunched Woodley, landing 71 blows in comparison to Woodley’s 52. While Woodley landed more power punches (41-35), Paul managed significantly more jabs (36-11).

Contested at a catchweight of 190 pounds, this was Woodley’s boxing debut. Furthermore, this is the heaviest weight class that Woodley has competed in throughout his fighting career.

The build-up to the fight was riddled with controversy, with Woodley accusing a member of Jake Paul’s team of trash-talking Woodley’s mother. The situation boiled over once Woodley made his way across a hotel ballroom and exchanged words with Paul’s team, only to be escorted from the room.
