Even at the age of 48, Pittsburgh Penguins legend Jaromir Jagr isn’t ready to say goodbye to hockey. Jagr suited up for Czech Republic team Kladno on Wednesday and confirmed he’s returning for his 33rd season as a pro.

Jagr has been playing for Kladno for the past three seasons and also serves as the club’s co-owner and team president. His most recent NHL stint was in 2017-18 when he made 22 appearances for the Calgary Flames.

If everything goes well this season, Jagr might postpone his retirement for a couple more seasons.

“I can’t say how long I want to keep playing,” the veteran forward told NHL.com in a recent interview. “I feel a lack of motivation to keep playing, though this year is definitely not the last in my career.”

Jaromir Jagr started his professional career with Kladno back in 1988, spending two seasons with the club before heading to the NHL and joining the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the next 11 seasons, Jagr emerged as one of the most dominant players in the league, leading Pittsburgh to two Stanley Cups while winning the Art Ross Trophy five times.

Jagr left the Penguins in 2001 to join the Washington Capitals and later suited up for seven more franchises, including the New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, and Florida Panthers.

Jagr played a total of 1,733 NHL games, scoring 766 goals and dishing 1,155 assists for a total of 1,921 career points.
