In his first season with New England Patriots, cornerback Jason McCourty managed to win a Super Bowl ring. Winning obviously suited McCourtny well, since the 31-year-old, who is set to become a free agent, recently told reporters that he would prefer to re-sign with the Pats in the offseason.

Besides the winning part, McCourtny would like to remain with New England due to the fact that his twin brother Devin McCourty plays there as well. Devin, who spent his entire career with the Patriots, recently dismissed the reports about his retirement and said he is ready to return for 2019.

“First and foremost, if I could be back in New England and all of that works out, that would be awesome,” – said Jason. “That way it wouldn’t be the third consecutive year I had to move my family. That would be an advantage. But at the same time you realize how much of this is a business and how much of this isn’t dictated by (the feeling), ‘Hey, I just want to play here with my brother and the guys I built a relationship with.’ There’s so much more that goes into it.”

Jason McCourty had a productive season in 2018, managing to contribute with 70 tackles and 10 passes defended alongside one interception.

“For me, (the approach will be) letting it play out,” – he added. “When March rolls around we’ll see where everything’s at and then at the end of the day we’ll see where the opportunities are and then make a decision.”

Being the sixth-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Jason spent the first eight years of his career with the Tennessee Titans. He played out the 2017 season with the Cleveland Browns before being traded to New England Patriots. His NFL career stats include 640 tackles, 1.0 sacks, 17 interceptions, and one defensive touchdown.
