The New York Jets were denied passage into the NFL playoffs after losing 23-6 to the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Sunday.

“It stings,” Jets quarterback Mike White exclaimed following the defeat. “It’s tough. It’s gut-wrenching. It’s all of the above. You can use any adjective you want to use to describe it.” Jets coach Robert Saleh echoed White’s disappointment assuring the press that he was just as hurt as his players following the crushing defeat.

After going 7-4 following a resounding 31-10 win over the Chicago Bears on November 27, the Jets appeared to be in fine form heading into the final few weeks of the regular season. In a sharp twist of fate, the Jets’ nosedived in form, losing five consecutive games to fall to a 7-9 record putting them at the foot of the AFC East.

This is the longest losing streak that the Jets have undergone since their 10th game in 1996 when they ended the season with a 1-15 record.

Seattle, on the other hand, is looking to fend off competition from the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions to secure a spot in the playoffs.
