The New York Jets looked good under veteran Joe Flacco in 2022, but there is no doubt that most fans want to see starting quarterback Zach Wilson back in action. That could be as soon as Week 4 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Robert Saleh.

Wilson has been out after tearing his meniscus in the first game of the preseason and having to undergo surgery. At the time, the Jets predicted he might be back for Week 4 if the rehab goes as planned, and that definitely seems to be the case.

While speaking with the reporters after Sunday’s 27-12 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, Saleh said that he expects Wilson under center for the Steelers game. However, he also added that the doctors would have the final say on his status.

“I’m expecting [him back], but until the doctors say so, I’m just going to say he’s being evaluated,” Saleh said.

The Jets got their first win of the season against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, thanks to a spectacular comeback effort. However, they fell flat versus the Bengals, being outplayed in every manner. The game was particularly rough for Flacco, who had three turnovers, including two interceptions.

It remains to be seen whether Wilson will be able to give the New York team a more consistent QB play. The last year’s second overall pick struggled in his rookie season, completing only 55.6 percent of his passes while throwing for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
