It seems like New York Jets’ head coach Adam Gase isn’t keen on trading running back Le’Veon Bell despite multiple reports saying the opposite. During a recent press conference, Gase decided to dismiss rumors about trading Bell just two months after signing him and called them “ridiculous.”

“That’s ridiculous,” – said Gase when asked about his rumored wish to explore trade options for Bell. “That’s the first I’ve heard of that.”

Jets’ recently fired general manager Mike Maccagnan, who was the one to give Le’Veon Bell a massive four-year, $52.5 million contract with $35 million guaranteed. This reportedly didn’t sit well with Gase, who thought that this was too much money to spend on a running back. Although Jets denied it several times, influential media outlets like Bleacher Report and ESPN reported that disagreement with Gase and Bell’s contract played a significant part in the team’s decision to part ways with Maccagnan.

During the press conference, Adam Gase even hinted that he isn’t satisfied with the amount of money Bell received but stated that this doesn’t change his opinion that he is a great player.

“Whether or not we disagreed on anything financially, that’s a completely different story than the person or the player,” – Gase explained. “That’s where a lot of this gets misconstrued. Le’Veon Bell is a great player. He’s a good person.”

“I’m excited he’s here. I think the players are excited he’s here. I think the coaches are.” – he added, “When you get a chance to coach a great player, a guy who has done things nobody else has done in the league, we’re excited for that opportunity. I’m excited to get him in the offense so I can start figuring out what else can we do with him, and what he hasn’t done.”
