The New York Jets are reportedly in talks with the Green Bay Packers over a proposed trade involving Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

According to sources, the conversations were expected to commence on Tuesday, however, there is no indication of the likelihood of the potential trade.

Rodgers has not made any announcements regarding his future with the Packers. It is still unknown whether Rodgers would like to remain with the Packers or if retirement from the NFL is on the table.

Currently, Rodgers is under contract with Green Bay through 2024 for $108.8 million. While the contract technically runs through 2026, both 2025 and 2026 are considered “dummy” years for cap purposes. This season, Rodgers will take home a guaranteed $59.5 million, with $58.3 million coming in the form of an option bonus.

Rodgers has been a topic of conversation for the Jets since the beginning of the offseason when owner Woody Johnson told reporters that he would be willing to invest in the Packers star. The Jets have also confirmed that Zach Wilson, drafted No. 2 overall in 2021, is still not being considered for the starting quarterback role.
