During an episode of his The Old Man and the Three podcast, Redick reflected on his retirement decision, giving the following statement: “The last 30 years of basketball have been beyond my wildest dreams. I never could have imagined that I would have played basketball for this long. After years of youth leagues, AAU, high school basketball, four years at Duke, and 15 years in the NBA, I’m retiring from the game that I love so much.”

Most recently a player for the Dallas Mavericks, Redick represented Duke University at the college-level, becoming the team’s all-time leading scorer with 2,769 points in his college career. After being named AP Player of the Year during his senior year, Redick was selected as the 11th pick by the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA draft.

Redick played for six teams during his NBA career, namely the Magic, LA Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, Milwaukee Bucks, and Dallas Mavericks. He also managed to reach the NBA playoffs in 13 of his 15 seasons in the NBA.
