The Philadelphia 76ers’ big man Joel Embiid is looking like one of the best players in the league for the third straight season. But it seems that this is not enough to please the 76ers fans, at least according to Embiid himself.

Speaking with Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Embiid said that he believes fans in Philly want him to be traded.

“I don’t know,” Embiid told Fischer. “Sixers fans, they want to trade me.”

Fischer asked him whether he actually believed that, and Embiid surprisingly stood by his opinion.

“I do believe that,” he reiterated. “They want to trade me.”

Now, there are probably some 76ers fans who are somewhat disappointed in Joel Embiid, considering his lack of playoff success. However, the majority of the supporters most likely want to see him in Philadelphia for a long time.

Also, Embiid is known for his trolling tendencies, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is just messing with a demanding fanbase. After all, this isn’t the first time he mentions something similar.

“They probably wanted me to be traded, and the whole team sent down to the G League,” said Embiid after Philly started the season 0-3.

To his credit, Embiid is playing at a high level in 2022-23. In 19 games he played this season, he is averaging career-high 33.3 points and 4.7 assists while adding 9.7 boards.
