Jordan Morris may have to cut his stint overseas short. Due to an unfortunate ACL tear, the remainder of his 2020-21 season has officially come to a close.

This is obviously a devastating blow to everyone involved, especially since Swansea City were only using him on a loan from the MLS’ Seattle Sounders. Naturally, they wanted to get as much use of him as they could, and this is the last thing they could’ve wanted.

The 26-year-old winger took a little tumble during Saturday’s game against Huddersfield, which they ended up losing 1-4. After the injury took place, there was obviously much fear and confusion, but it still wasn’t clear how bad it wasn’t going to be until the tests came back.

As Swansea manager Steve Cooper explained, “He’s had a bad injury unfortunately for him. It’s significant ligament damage, ACL. Everything we hoped it wasn’t, unfortunately, it is.”

Morris is now set to head back to the United States, where he’ll get surgery and have his knee taken care of properly. Since he was only playing for Swansea City on a five-month loan, it’s unclear if he’ll ever return to their squad. Nevertheless, both parties can only take it one day at a time, and once he heals up, they may sign him for another loan in the future.
