Julian Love has agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Love was the captain and full-time starting safety of the New York Giants this past season for the first time in his career.

Love started 16 games for the Giants last year, finishing the season with a team-leading 124 tackles while also tieing for the team lead with two interceptions. He also served as punt protector on the Giants’ special teams.

Selected out of Notre Dame during the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Giants, Love was largely used as a backup, bouncing between the positions of cornerback and safety. He received the opportunity to play a larger role in the team after the Giants cut Logan Ryan during last year’s offseason. Over the course of his career in New York, Love made 291 tackles and 5 interceptions.

Aside from Love’s arrival, the Seahawks were also able to acquire former Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Devin Bush on a one-year deal. This much-needed deal gives Seattle a replacement for Cody Barton, who signed for the Washington Commanders.
