Jurgen Klopp won’t be leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024, after all. The German manager signed a new deal with the Premier League giants that now ties him to the club until 2026.

Klopp’s previous deal with Liverpool was set to expire after the 2023-24 season, and chances of him staying past that were slim. The 54-year-old player said on multiple occasions that he is thinking about taking a break from coaching after. However, Liverpool brass didn’t want to lose one of the best managers in the world and worked hard in recent months to convince him to change his mind.

“There is a freshness about us as a club still, and this energises me,” said Klopp for club’s official website. “For as long as I have been here, our owners have been unbelievably committed and energetic about this club and it is clear that right now this applies to our future as much as I’ve ever known.”

Jurgen Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015 and has since transformed the club into one of the best in the world. He won five trophies with the Reds, including UEFA Champions League in 2018–19 and the Premier League title in 2019–20. The latter was the first domestic title for the club since 1989-90.

Klopp can further improve his resume this season, considering Liverpool is still in the running for three trophies after already winning Carabao Cup. They are one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League, play semi-finals of UCL, and are set to face Chelsea in the FA Cup finals.
