Juventus Signs Merih Demiral From Sassuolo For 20 Million

Juventus is once again in transfer news with another reinforcement joining their ranks this summer. The Italian Serie A club officially announced the acquiring of the Sassuolo defender, Merih Demiral.

The club has stated that they will be signing a five year contract with the Turkish defender and they will pay a fee of around $20 million for him. The contract will last until June 30, 2024.

Demiral is just 21 years old and he was loaned to the Turkish club Aytemiz Alanyaspor who then signed with him and loaned the aspiring player to Sassuolo. Having a purchase option, the club bought him for almost $8 million and the young player made 14 appearances for the team, managing to score two goals. After having a great last season, the interest in Demiral rose,  culminating with his acquirement by the Serie A champions Juventus.

He will be reinforcing the defense of the club considering the age of the other defenders like Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, both being over 30 years old. Merih Demiral is also part of the Turkish national team, having made 6 appearances for his country so far.
