Kansas City Chiefs might be without both of their starting corners in the coming weeks after Charvarius Ward got injured in the 34-20 win over Houston Texans on Thursday night. Chiefs previously lost veteran Bashaud Breeland to a four-game suspension.

Ward had to leave the game against the Texans, having one tackle up to that point, and was diagnosed with a hand fracture. The team later confirmed the diagnosis but didn’t disclose the amount of time the 24-year-old CB might miss.

Ward’s time out mostly depends on the fracture. If the fracture is more severe, he will need surgery and will miss several weeks. If not, he could make a quick return and play with a club on his hand.

Charvarius Ward had an impressive season in 2019, starting all 16 games for Kansas City in the regular season. He finished the year with 74 tackles, 2 interceptions, 10 passes defended, and 1 forced fumble.

In Ward’s absence, the Chiefs will most likely turn to second-year player Rashad Fenton. Veteran Antonio Hamilton, who joined the franchise in March, and 2020’s seventh-round pick BoPete Keyes should also see an increase in their snaps.
