The Cleveland Browns turned to a familiar face in the wake of star running back Nick Chubb’s season-ending injury. The organization announced on Wednesday that they have agreed to a deal with veteran Kareem Hunt.

Hunt will reportedly join the Browns until the end of the 2023 campaign and will earn around $4 million in salary and incentives.

Hunt spent the past four seasons in Cleveland, rushing for 1,847 yards and 16 touchdowns in 49 games. He also added 132 receptions for 973 yards and seven TDs during the same period.

Following an underwhelming 2022 campaign, the Browns decided not to resign Hunt. The 28-year-old player attracted interest from multiple teams in free agency, including the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts, but decided to wait for a better opportunity. Now that opportunity arrived with his old team, and former Pro Bowler didn’t hesitate to take it.

Browns’ head coach, Kevin Stefanski, already confirmed that second-year back Jerome Ford will be the focal point of the team’s running game moving forward. However, Hunt should get his fair share of touches thanks to his experience and familiarity with the offensive system, as well as his impact in the receiving game.
