Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love is expected to be out of action for three to four weeks after suffering a calf injury. While the injury was initially inflicted in the preseason, the 32-year-old former All-Star aggravated the calf strain during the Cavaliers’ 118-94 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

The five-time NBA All-Star played for 38 minutes during the Cavs’ 128-119 victory against the Detroit Pistons before featuring in the game against the 76ers for just nine minutes.

This takes place not long after Love apparently got kicked in the leg during a preseason game against the Indiana Pacers earlier this month. The injury caused swelling across his calf leading all the way down to his Achilles tendon.

As one of the Cavs’ key players, Love will be greatly missed while recovering from his injury. So far this season, he has been tasked with leading the Cavs’ young team and mentoring them for the future. To his credit, they’ve shown remarkable signs of growth since the start of the season.

Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff is expected to fill the void that Love left behind by placing Larry Nance Jr. back in the starting lineup.
