Sacramento Kings’ stay in Orlando continues to be filled with bad news. The team confirmed on Wednesday that their starting point guard De’Aaron Fox suffered an ankle injury and will be out for at least a week.

Fox got hurt during a team practice and later underwent an MRI test that confirmed the sprain. He will be re-evaluated in the next seven to 10 days.

The 22-year-old player has been Sacramento’s best player this season, leading the team with 20.4 points, 6.8 assists, and 1.4 steals.

Kings already had their share of bad luck ahead of NBA season restart. Four of their players, including starters Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes, tested positive for coronavirus before the start of training camp, and their availability is still up in the air.  Also, center Richaun Holmes is currently in quarantine after leaving the Orlando bubble.

Sacramento Kings currently find themselves as No.11 seed in the West, sitting 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies at the last playoff spot. In order to make the postseason, Kings will not only have to catch up with Memphis in eight remaining regular-season games but will also have to fight off several other teams like New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers.

Kings will have their first scrimmage game in Orlando on July 22nd against Miami Heat. They are scheduled to resume the 2019/20 season against San Antonio Spurs on July 31st.
