Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday announced goalkeeper Jonathan Quick will be out indefinitely after he underwent a knee surgery earlier in the week. The 32-year-old has played four games this season, losing three and drawing one.

Quick played in LA’s season opener but was sidelined for the next five games after suffering an injury to the knee. He got back and played four more games and before he was injured again, giving rookie Jack Campbell as Kings’ first choice goalie this season.

Campbell has appeared in seven games in which Los Angeles won three and lost four. He has conceded an average of 2.72 games in the seven games, much better than Quick’s 4.55 goal average. Kings are currently ranked last in the Western Conference 11 games into the season.

In spite of his injuries this season, Quick is the most successful goalie in Kings’ history. He’s won the Stanley Cup twice, won the postseason MVP award in 2012 and made multiple game-winning saves. However, Quick’s aggressive playing style has left him vulnerable to injuries.

In the 2016/17, a groin injury sidelined the then 28-year-old for 59 games. He had also faced a similar injury in 2013, leaving him sidelined for 24 games. The Kings faces the Philadelphia Flyers and a win could lift them a position higher in the Pacific Division.
