The Boston Celtics suffered a tough blow in their loss on Saturday night to the Los Angeles Clippers, as they also lost Kyrie Irving with a right knee sprain.

The point guard injured his knee in the second quarter of the game. During a possession in which the 26-year-old guard was attempting to get around screens while guarding Garrett Temple, he appeared to tweak his knee.

Irving was then forced to leave the game.

This is the next in a long list of ailments that have bothered the All-Star point guard this season. In fact, Irving had missed 4 of the Celtics’ 8 previous games due to minor injuries before he was forced to make an early exit on Saturday.

Irving has also suffered a hip strain and a quad injury during the past month. Last summer, he underwent knee surgery for a more serious problem, but fortunately, it was on his left knee.

The Celtics have offered no official statement on Irving’s injury, but it appears that he will probably miss at least a few games.

Boston, currently in the midst of the race for the top of the Eastern Conference, will wait with their fingers crossed and hope that Irving will return quickly to the court.
