LA Galaxy continued to dominate their crosstown rivals LAFC, securing a dominant 3-0 win on Sunday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. This was Galaxy’s fourth win in El Trafico, compared to LAFC’s two, and second in a row.

Despite suffering a heavy defeat, LAFC was actually the better team in the first half. Still, they didn’t manage to convert their chances, and both clubs headed to the break scoreless.

The second period, however, saw Galaxy upping their tempo and taking over the possession. Unlike LAFC, Galaxy managed to turn their opportunities into goals.

The first to score was Cristian Pavon in 51st, converting on an assist from compatriot Emilio Insua. Then, just several minutes later, LAFC’s Mark-Anthony Kaye received a red card for a reckless tackle against Julian Araujo.

Being left with just 10 men made the job of returning in the match extremely hard for LAFC, while Galaxy’s attackers had more space to work with. French forward Sebastian Lletget took advantage of this and scored a brace in 73rd and 83rd to seal the win for his team.

“The team is playing at a wonderful level,” said Galaxy’s coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto after the game. “The level in the second half was very high. Everyone is growing, and everything is better now, and we can now continue to get good results.”

With the win, Galaxy managed to climb to No. 4 spot in the West. LAFC, on the other hand, is holding the seventh seed at the moment.
