The Los Angeles Kings recalled American Hockey League (AHL) goaltender Cal Peterson from the Ontario Reign on Monday after their backup goalie Jack Campbell was sidelined with a knee injury on Saturday. First choice goalie Jonathan Quick has been in and out this season as he battles a series of injuries.

26-year-old Campbell has been Kings’ main goalie this season, playing thirteen games. He’s won five and lost seven, conceded an average of 2.33 goals and saved .923%. His counterpart, Quick, has played four games, losing all with an average of 4.55 goals conceded and .845% save percentage.

Still, the 32-year-old is Kings best goalie. When fit, Quick has won 293 games out of a possible 560, saving .916% with an average of 2.33 goals conceded.

With Kings and Campbell out with injuries, Kings are bringing in Petersen, whom they signed last year after an incredible season in the collegiate league. Petersen, 24, has played 10 games for Ontario this season, averaging 4.29 goals against.

The 24-year-old had a great performance last season where he won 23 out of 41 contests as a rookie. He was the winningest rookie that year, fourth in goals against, fifth in save percentage and seventh overall. He joins the Kings for the first time and will wear jersey number 40.
