Los Angeles Kings are using the suspension of NHL season to further evaluate their prospects, and it seems like they particularly liked what they saw from forward Tyler Madden. The team announced on Monday that they officially have Madden under contract, with the 20-year-old inking a three-year, entry-level contract.

Madden will join Kings after spending the previous two years with Northeastern University.

Madden played a total of 63 games on college, scoring 31 goals and dishing 34 assists. He was especially productive this past season when he had team-leading 37 points in 27 games en route to being named into Hockey East All-Star team.

Tyler Madden is also part of the United States national team, taking part in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship. He scored three goals and added one assist in the competition, helping his country to win a silver medal.

Madden was originally drafted into NHL in 2018 by Vancouver Canucks. Kings eventually acquired his rights back in February in a trade that saw forward Tyler Toffoli head to Canada.
