The Los Angeles Lakers are turning to another familiar face in the wake of Trevor Ariza and Talen Horton-Tucker’s injuries. The Lakers claimed off waivers Avery Bradley, bringing back the veteran guard for his second stint with the franchise.

Bradley spent the training camp with the Golden State Warriors but ended up being waived as the team opted to keep one roster spot open ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season. The move reportedly didn’t sit well with the Warriors’ key players, notably Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, who advocated for his stay.

Golden State’s loss might be the Lakers’ gain as the LA team didn’t wait too long to jump on the opportunity and pick up Bradley. While he isn’t expected to play a prominent role, he might be a valuable veteran contributor from the bench until the team gets healthy again.

Bradley’s contract is initially non-guaranteed, but it will convert to guaranteed if he remains on the roster past January 7th.

Avery Bradley had his first stint with the Lakers during the 2019-20 NBA season. He played 49 games (44 as a starter) during the regular part of the campaign and averaged 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Bradley opted to sit out the postseason due to coronavirus pandemic and wasn’t part of the Lakers’ NBA title-winning run, although he did get a championship ring.
