Following Avery Bradley’s decision to opt-out of NBA action due to family reasons, the Los Angeles Lakers are to be without yet another key player ahead of their clash with local rivals LA Clippers.

On Tuesday during a conference call with reporters, Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka expressed his doubt over a possible Dwight Howard return to action.

Pelinka explained how one of Howard’s sons lost his mother a few weeks ago, further emphasizing the need to support players and their family members during such time.

Among those concerned over the absence of both Bradley and Howard is veteran Lakers’ wing Danny Green, who had this to say about their absence: “I think it’s just important that we’re together. Obviously we’re going to need Avery Bradley, we’re going to need Dwight Howard to be playing for us to have a chance. But I think it’s important that we stay healthy, and not just our team but the league.”

If Howard remains unavailable by the time that the Lakers’ return to action, the responsibility of carrying the team will fall on JaVale McGee’s shoulders. Fortunately, McGee expressed confidence in his abilities, explaining that he is “definitely comfortable”.
