The Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is eager to sign a new deal with the team, Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell claimed. This comes after Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta remarked that “it takes two to tango” when being asked about the chances of securing a deal with the quarterback.

“He wants to get a deal done, and that’s the most important part,” Campbell told NFL Network. “Sometimes guys who are part of a team and don’t want to be there anymore use [free agency] as an opportunity to go elsewhere. But he wants to be [with the Ravens].”

Negotiations between Jackson and the Ravens began 25 months ago, however, little progress has been made since with regard to closing a deal. Now, the situation appears more urgent, with the Ravens needing to secure a deal by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET in order to prevent Jackson from becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Jackson has declined to speak publicly about his contract since the start of the 2022 season, refusing to chat with reporters altogether since enduring his season-ending injury in early December.
