For the Los Angeles Lakers, who have slipped to 9th in the Western Conference, LeBron James couldn’t come back any sooner.

Fortunately for them, the NBA’s biggest star is increasing his work intensity in practice and looks to be almost ready to make his 2019 debut.

James has been out since Christmas Day, when he suffered a groin injury in a win against the Warriors. In his absence, which has lasted just over a month, the Lakers have won only 6 of their 17 games.

At the time of James’s injury, the Lakers held a 20-14 record and were comfortably in playoff positions. However, since their superstar went down with an injury, the Lakers have dropped to just 1 game over .500 and out of the current playoff picture.

LeBron was spotted at UCLA Health Training Center, the Lakers’ practice facility, going through practice and drills with high intensity. His return to the team appears to be imminent.

For the Lakers, who have been mired in a turbulent season mired by injuries to key players as well as constant trade rumors, James’ return couldn’t come at a better time.

LeBron James hasn’t missed the playoffs since the 2004-05 season, and it’s almost unimaginable to think that his team wouldn’t make it this year.
