Veteran running back Le’Veon Bell is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs after being released by the New York Jets earlier in the week.

Since he must go through a five-day COVID-19 protocol, Bell will not suit up for the Chiefs this week but is expected to join the team next week for practice.

Bell will join rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the backfield and potentially give the Chiefs one of the best running duos in the league. Bell is regarded as one of the most versatile running backs in the league and even lines up as a slot receiver regularly.

After spending a season and a half losing in New York and constantly butting heads with Jets head coach Adam Gase, Bell joins the 4-1 Chiefs, who are the reigning Super Bowl champions and already have one of the most high-powered offenses in the league led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Bell came to the Jets as a star free agent in 2019, signing a four-year deal worth $52.5 million. In 17 games with the Jets, the three-time Pro Bowler only rushed for 864 yards and three touchdowns, often complaining about how he was being used in the offense.
