Widely considered the best soccer player of all-time, FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi added another accomplishment to his list on Sunday.

With a goal in Barcelona’s 3-0 win against Eibar, Messi became the first player in the history of the top Spanish league to score 400 career goals.

Messi began his career with Barcelona back in 2004. Since debuting at only 17 years old, the Argentinian wizard has played in 435 league game with the Blaugrana.

After Luis Suarez assisted him with a pass 15 meters away from the net on Sunday, Messi buried the 400th league goal of his career past Eibar keeper Asier Riesgo at the Camp Nou in Barcelona.

While it’s true that no one else in the history of La Liga has scored 400 goals in the history of La Liga, it’s also worth pointing out that Messi is the first player to score 400 career goals in any single European league.

The Argentina native’s accomplishment is especially astonishing considering the fact that he is only 31 years old and almost certainly has plenty of years left to play.

Messi will look to add to his goal total in Barcelona’s chase for the La Liga title this year. The Catalonian club currently maintains a 5-point advantage over Atletico Madrid.
