Detroit Lions seem like they are not done with spending money this offseason. After recently agreeing to an extension with left tackle Taylor Decker, the Lions are now reportedly looking to tie their standout wide receiver Kenny Golladay to a long-term deal as well.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Lions turned their attention to Golladay and will soon engage in talks with the 26-year-old player. Other reports say that two sides are already negotiating.

Golladay, who was a third-round selection in 2017, is entering the final year of his rookie deal this season. He is set to earn a base salary of $2.1 million.

Kenny Golladay racked up 98 receptions for 1540 yards in his first two seasons in the league, before a breakthrough campaign in 2019. He caught 65 passes for career-high 1,190 yards and a league-leading 11 receiving touchdowns while earning his first Pro Bowl selection in the process.

Since Golladay is quarterback Matt Stafford’s favorite target, the Lions will most likely make an aggressive push to lock him before the season begins and avoid a franchise tag headache in 2021. The player himself is also keen on making the deal, as he previously stated he wants to have a long stay in Detroit.
