Tuesday night´s clash between European giants Liverpool and Bayern Munich ended in a scoreless draw.

Bayern Munich, the winners of Group E in the group stage of this year’s Champions League, has to be satisfied with the scoreless draw that they achieved at Anfield.

Liverpool, however, will not be so happy about their inability to take advantage of the home leg of their draw against the Bundesliga champions.

Manager Jurgen Klopp and his side enjoyed numerous chances to score throughout the night, but a combination of bad luck and excellent goalkeeping by Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer left Liverpool goalless.

Especially disappointed at Liverpool’s goalless night is Reds forward Sadio Mane, who was unable to convert some of Liverpool´s clearest chances on the night. Two clear chances that he had near the goal sailed wide of the net, and another header he was able to direct towards the goal was saved by Neuer.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, is more content with the draw. They will host Liverpool in the second leg of the draw on Wednesday, March 13, and a win will propel them to the next elimination round of the tournament.

The German side is back in action in the Bundesliga against Hertha Berlin on Saturday, while Liverpool has a crucial game at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Sunday.
