Premier League giants Liverpool are confident that they will sign Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to new contracts according to a report by soccer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Salah and van Dijk were previously expected to leave the Reds when their contracts expire at the end of the season. However, Liverpool made significant progress in talks with both players in recent periods and they are now set to remain with the club beyond the 2024-25 season.
Romano added that right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is also out of contract in the summer, is closing on a deal with La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid.
Managing to keep Salah and van Dijk is a major win for Liverpool. They were crucial in the team’s success in past years while also being a huge reason why the club is closing in on a Premier League title this season.
Salah has been playing some of his best soccer in 2024-25 despite the fact that he’ll turn 33 in June. Egypt international scored 27 goals and added 17 assists in 31 matches in the Premier League so far. Overall, he has 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions.
Van Dijk, on the other hand, has been as reliable as ever. He played every match and fronted a defense that allowed the second-fewest goals in the Premier League so far in the campaign.
