Despite the strange environment in which they have been forced to play thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Liverpool finds itself within a win of being able to celebrate its first English domestic league title since 1990.

The Reds dispatched of a far inferior Crystal Palace side on Wednesday night at Anfield, moving them to 86 points on the season and within reach of the big trophy that they have waited so long for.

Liverpool was in complete control of Wednesday’s match, taking a 2-0 lead before halftime thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.

The Reds then found the net twice after play resumed in the second half after Fabinho and Sadio Mane found the net. The game was never in much doubt for one of the strongest domestic sides that England has seen in the past several decades.

Now, Liverpool, which has been a near-lock to win the title for months, will have the opportunity to lift the trophy next Thursday after a visit to second-place Manchester City. If they win this game, they will officially clinch the title.

If not, however, Liverpool will still have plenty of opportunities left to clinch the Premier League, as there are still seven games left to play.
