Liverpool were eliminated from the Europa League on Thursday night by Serie A side Atalanta. While the Reds came out 1-0 winners on the night courtesy of a Mohamed Salah penalty, Atalanta’s 3-0 victory at Anfield meant that the win would not be enough as Liverpool lost the quarterfinal clash 3-1 on aggregate.

Despite the disappointing exit, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appeared adamant to remain optimistic and focus on the road ahead. “Disappointed that we did not go through but not frustrated or angry. Now we can focus on the league and that’s what we will do,” Klopp stated, adding that the team will need to regain their focus in time to face Fulham in their next Premier League match.

In what is to be Klopp’s last season with Liverpool, his team remains in the race to win this season’s Premier League crown. The Reds currently sit in third place with 71 points, tied with second-placed Arsenal and just two points behind Manchester City.
