Liverpool’s winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently recovering from knee ligament injury he suffered in April, and there is still no definite timeline for his return. According to team’s manager Jurgen Klopp, Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss the “majority” of next season and him playing in the 2018-19 season “will be a bonus.”

“It feels like now is an appropriate time to tell people that for Ox this coming season will be about focusing on recovery and rehab,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.” We have known this from pretty much the day after he got the injury and after the successful surgery, we were sure of it.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered the injury in Champions League semifinal against Roma and on 25 April 2018 and underwent a surgery eight days later.

“I hope everyone treats this information responsibly,” added Klopp. “There has been no change, no setback — it’s exactly on the schedule we expected and planned for. The new information is that we’re now giving more detail publicly.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain started his professional career with Southampton, helping them reach promotion to Championship as a 17-year-old. This brought him a transfer to Arsenal in 2011, and he spent seven seasons with the club before agreeing to a transfer to Liverpool in a deal worth around $45 million. He made 42 appearances for Liverpool in the past season and scored five goals.
