A relationship that was rocky since day one finally ends with the New York Jets releasing running back Le’Veon Bell.

The Jets snagged Bell in 2019, who was a top free agent at the time. However, Bell and Jets head coach Adam Gase never got on the same page, which led to a lot of tension in the locker room and very production from Bell on the field.

The relationship seemed doomed to fail from the start, with reports stating that Gase was against signing Bell. However, Jets general manager Joe Douglas was all-in on signing the former Pro Bowler.

Since Bell is a veteran, he’s not subject to waivers and can become a free agent right away.

Bell made his name with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a dynamic offensive threat both running and catching out of the backfield. After playing on a franchise tag in 2017, he sat out the entire 2018 season because he was unhappy with the contract offer he received from the Steelers.

Since arriving in New York, Bell has been frustrated by the fact that he hasn’t been the focus of the offense. According to reports, the Jets were looking to shop Bell to other teams but found little interest, which led to the decision to release him.
