The New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins has recently turned his attention to another kind of football. In a recent appearance on AP Pro Football Podcast, Jenkins revealed he ventured into soccer and invested in Premier League side Burnley.

According to Jenkins, he made the investment after being impressed with the club’s history, organization, leadership, and fans.

“And to have the opportunity to join a club with that kind of history, that kind of pedigree, was something that was exciting for me and my team,” Jenkins explained while revealing that he even toured Burnley’s stadium last week while also attending their 0-2 EPL loss against Manchester City on Saturday.

Jenkins joins the growing list of athletes who play in one of four major American leagues and have invested in soccer. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently became an investor in MLS side Sporting Kansas City. At the same time, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James owns a stake in Premier League powerhouse Liverpool. Brooklyn Nets superstars Kevin Durant and James Harden are investors in Philadelphia Union and Houston Dynamo, respectively.

Malcolm Jenkins, who also played with the Philadelphia Eagles during his NFL career, is considered one of the best safeties of his generation. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion and has three Pro Bowl nods alongside First-team All-Pro and Second-team All-Pro honors.
