Manchester City used Sunday’s matchup against Manchester United to demonstrate once again why they are considered the best team in Europe. Man City humiliated their crosstown rivals and walked away with a 6-3 win that continued their undefeated start of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

City dominated the game from the get-go and was 4-0 by halftime, thanks to braces from midfielder Phil Foden and star striker Erling Haaland. United scored through Antony early in the second half to make it 4-1, before Foden and Haaland added one each to complete their hat-tricks. Anthony Martial scored two goals for United late in the game to slightly ease the blow.

This was the first career hat-trick for Foden, a Manchester native.

Haaland, on the other hand, had his third-hat trick in Premier League despite arriving only this summer.

“We scored six goals, what can I say, it’s amazing,” Haaland said after the game. “To win at home, score six goals, it’s nice.”

Manchester City is currently second on the Premier League standings with 20 points. They are only one point behind leading Arsenal.

On the other hand, Manchester United suffered another blow in their attempt to secure the UEFA Champions League spot next season. They currently hold sixth place on the table with 12 points from seven matches.
