Manchester United announced that they have completed the signing of Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich. In a combined deal worth £60 million ($76.6 million) including add-ons, De Ligt signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club while Mazraoui signed a four-year deal. Both contracts come with an option to extend by a season.

“As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt an excitement about the opportunity for a new challenge at such a historic club,” De Ligt said in a statement upon signing for his new club. “Erik ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career, so he knows how to get the best out of me and I cannot wait to work with him again,” he added, speaking about Man United’s head coach.

The arrival of De Ligt and Mazraoui comes as United parts ways with full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who agreed to a move to West Ham United for £15 million ($19.2 million). De Ligt and Mazraoui will provide a much-needed boost to United’s squad depth, especially given the extensive list of injuries suffered by the club in recent times. First-choice left-back Luke Shaw has struggled with hamstring issues while recent arrival Leny Yoro will be sidelined for three months after undergoing foot surgery.
