Since joining Manchester United in 2020, Donny van de Beek is yet to make a big impression. Amid future transfer speculation, the 24-year-old midfielder insists that he trusts Ole Gunnar Solskjær and that the manager has a plan for him.

Since joining the club from Ajax for £39 million, van de Beek has not been able to consistently show his quality. With the coronavirus pandemic disrupting ordinary business last year, his move in September 2020 was not an easy one.

Talking to Rio Ferdinand FIVE Podcast, he says that he has spoken “with the manager about it and the club. They were clear they wanted me to stay here. The manager was really positive about me and he said, ‘I need you and I want to keep you here.'”

“Of course, what I see here now in the beginning of the season is difficult because I didn’t play one minute, but he said, ‘What I see every day in training, I see a different Donny now.'”

“I need to trust him. If he doesn’t need me, I think he will let me go. I think he has plans with me.”
