Manchester United director John Murtough confirmed on Wednesday that the club is currently on track with its recruitment plans following a busy summer transfer window.

During this period, the Red Devils poured £225 million into transfers, signing six new players for the club. These include Lisandro Martinez, Antony, and Cristian Eriksen, all of whom Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag has worked with in the past.

This confirmation was given at the same time as the club released its latest financial results. According to the club’s director, these transfers are a crucial part of building a squad that can challenge for the Premier League and other competitions while also pulling the club out of its slump since finishing sixth in the league last season.

“We also saw a higher-than-usual number of departures, and this was an equally important part of refreshing the squad after the disappointing 2021-22 season,” Murtough added. “We will continue to support Erik in ensuring he has players with the right quality and characters to achieve success, while ensuring that investment remains consistent with our commitment to financial sustainability.”

The director went on to say that because the club is ahead of schedule on the recruitment front, future transfer windows are not expected to be as eventful.
