Manchester United’s midfielder Bruno Fernandes doesn’t have doubts about his pairing with Paul Pogba once the French star returns from foot surgery. Speaking with TalkSport on Wednesday, Fernandes said that he is looking forward to seeing Pogba back in action and believes it “will be amazing” to play alongside him.
Fernandes joined Man Utd in January and played a major part in the team’s successful stretch in the second part of the 2019/20 Premier League season. The 25-year-old Portuguese took over the leading creative role in the team’s midfield and has two goals and three assists to show for in just five games.
Since arriving to England, Fernandes was given significant freedom in the game and many believe that Pogba’s return will change that. Also, there are concerns about how two creative midfielders and players who require ball can co-exist on the field together.
But Fernandes doesn’t share these concerns. “I think everyone is excited to see Pogba play again after his long injury,” he said. “For me, playing alongside him will be amazing. Everyone wants to play with the best players and Pogba is one of them.”
Paul Pogba played just eight matches this season, before undergoing a foot surgery. Initially, he was set to miss the rest of 2019/20, but the coronavirus pandemic-induced delays of Premier League games gave Pogba enough time to recover.
