Manchester United central midfielder Christian Eriksen is expected to return to action for the Red Devils before the end of the season, manager Erik ten Hag confirmed.
Eriksen has been sidelined since January 28, when he was on the receiving end of a hard slide tackle during Man Utd’s 3-1 win over Reading in the fourth round of the FA Cup. As a result, he suffered an ankle ligament injury, with the team’s medical staff setting a “late April or early May” return date for the player.
Despite questions being raised about whether Eriksen could appear for the club again this season, ten Hag confirmed his confidence in Eriksen’s ability to return to action before the season is done.
“I think he will play [this season], yeah, definitely,” the Man Utd manager stated. “But I can’t tell now an expectation [of when]. I think his progress in the rehab is OK, is going according to plan, so we will definitely see him but not before the international break.”
Ten Hag is also optimistic that striker Anthony Martial will soon overcome his injury concerns, with the player already returning to training with the team.
