Despite his proposed transfer to Everton being nixed at the last minute, Argentinian goalkeeper Sergio Romero hasn’t given up on trying to leave Manchester United. According to Daily Mail, Romero now has his eyes set on a move to Major League Soccer.

Romero isn’t likely to see any playing time at Old Trafford, considering that David DeGea holds the starting job while talented Dean Henderson took over as a backup upon his return to the club. This reportedly got the 33-year-old goalie to start considering other options and the move to the United States emerged as the most likely outcome as the transfer windows in all major European league are now closed.

So far, there isn’t a consensus favorite for Romero’s signature among MLS teams, but it is believed that a number of them would entertain the idea. The only issue might be the player’s salary, considering the earns around $100,000 weekly in England.

Romero was previously on the verge of joining Everton on a loan deal, with the Merseyside club looking to bring competition to inconsistent Jordan Pickford. However, the deal fell through when United demanded a loan fee.

Sergio Romero spent time with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar and Seria A side Sampdoria before joining Manchester United in 2015. Since then, he made 61 appearances for the club, with most of them coming in Cup competitions. Romero was also the first choice on goal for United’s Europa League campaign in the 2016/17 season, when the Premier League side went on to win the competition.
