A match that ended with Manchester City 1 – 0 Brighton, may not have been Manchester City’s best, but it certainly was decisive in edging out Brighton from the competition. The match-winning goal was scored after only four minutes. A beautiful right-wing cross by Kevin de Bruyne set up Gabriel Jesus to swoop in for a perfect header, which secured victory for Man City.

Although Brighton put up a good fight, it failed to make a come-back after the early blow. The team played with determination but did not manage to convert ball possession into a serious threat, while quality plays by Manchester City kept Brighton attacks under control.

Manchester’s Aymeric Laporte managed to clear from right under his crossbar after Brighton’s Glenn Murray prepared to score. Defender Kyle Walker managed to avoid a red card in the first half after, in a clash with Alireza Jahanbaksh, Walker’s head ended up in Jahanbaksh’s face.

Manchester City qualified for the final at Wembley on May 18th, where they will play against either Watford or Wolves. The team is looking to achieve the historic quadruple, after winning the Carabao Cup, by being victorious at the FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League.
