Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland added another record to his impressive resume in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool. Haaland scored in the 27th minute to give the City a 1-0 lead at the time and get his goal tally in the Premier League to 50.

By doing so, Haaland became the fastest player in league history to score 50 goals. The Norwegian only needed 48 games to reach the mark.

Haaland’s feat is even more impressive when considering the number of games that other legendary strikers in the Premier League needed to reach 50 goals. The previous record was held by Manchester United’s Andy Cole, who scored his 50th goal in the 65th match. Alan Shearer needed 66 games to get to 50 goals, while Ruud van Nistelrooy got there with 68 games.

Haaland was exceptional last season, scoring 52 goals in 52 matches across all competitions, helping City win a treble of Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup. He continued in the same manner in 2023-24, scoring 14 times in 13 Premier League matches and scoring 18 goals overall.

With a draw against Liverpool, Manchester City fell to second place in the Premier League. They now have 29 points, one less than leaders Arsenal.
