After Manchester United’s disappointing sixth-place finish in the Premier League rankings, the team is doing everything in their power to make a comeback. They have their eyes set on several players who could improve their performance – including Frenkie de Jong, who’s reportedly eyeing a £56 million deal with the Red Devils.

The Dutch midfielder has been with Barcelona since 2019, but if recent reports are to be believed – he won’t be staying there for much longer. His deal is not done yet, but United reportedly reached a positive development in negotiations, and they could secure De Jong for a £56 million fee, plus add-ons. It’s also been reported that they’re eying Feyenoord’s defender Tyrell Malacia, who is valued at £12.9 million.

De Jong has been linked to United for quite some time, but he addressed the rumors about his potential transfer back in late May and said that his heart is still in Barcelona.

“I prefer to stay with Barcelona. Barcelona is just my dream club. Also from a young age. I just said it too. I’ve never regretted my choice despite the fact that I had hoped for more in terms of prizes than I’ve achieved so far. But I have never regretted my choice,” De Jong told ESPN Netherlands‘ Pascal Kamperman.
