It seems like Manchester United is finally having a breakthrough in this transfer window. The struggling Premier League giants are reportedly close to sealing a deal for Real Madrid’s reliable midfielder Casemiro.

The two teams are close to finalizing the terms of the transfer, with Real’s manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed at a recent press conference that the Brazilian player himself is keen on the move.

“I talked about it with [Casemiro] this morning,” Ancelotti told reporters. “He wants to try a new challenge, a new opportunity. The club and I understand it. Casemiro—with what he’s done at this club and with the person he is—we have to respect this desire he has.”

It is believed that Casemiro is willing to move to Old Trafford and miss out on the UEFA Champions League football as Manchester United is offering him substantially more money than he currently earns in Spain. Real also wouldn’t mind parting ways with the 30-year-old player if the English club meets their evaluation as the club believes they have the players to fill in the void.

Influential soccer reporter Fabrizio Romano reported later on Friday that Real and Man Utd have agreed on a transfer fee of €60 million plus €10 million in add-ons. What remains is that the player passes his medical and handles the visa.

Casemiro joined Real Madrid in 2013 from the Brazilian side Sao Paulo. Since then, he has played 336 games for the club and scored 31 goals. He also helped the club win 18 trophies, including three La Ligas and five UCLs.
